The student will survey anatomical terminology, basic chemistry, cell structure and function, tissues, and the following systems: integumentary, skeletal, muscular, and nervous.

MBIC 201- Microbiology & Infection Control 4 Quarter Credit Hours

The student will study concepts in bacterial identification, morphology, metabolism and genetics; bacterial, viral, and parasitic relationships with human health and disease; and basic immunology.   Introduction to the chain of infection, infectious and plaque associated diseases affecting the dental office environment and protection of the health care worker. Topics include blood borne pathogens, federal regulations, dental office clinical asepsis protocol, management of waste, office safety programs, and chemical and emergency plans.

OANA 201- Orofacial Anatomy & Biomechanics 4 Quarter Credit Hours

The student will identify, describe, and locate the bones of the skull, muscles, cranial nerves, blood vessels, and lymphatics of the head and neck; glands of the oral cavity; the tongue, the temporomandibular joint; and the alveolar processes. The student will also be able to explain and recognize terms and processes related to the development of the head, face and oral cavity.

GHST 201- General Histology, Dental Histology & Embryology 4 Quarter Credit Hours

The student will identify and describe various cell types in standard histologic sections and to identify a variety of normal tissue.  The study of dental histology and morphology of the teeth and surrounding soft tissues.

PERI 240- Periodontology 3 Quarter Credit Hours

The student will study of the normal periodontium, periodontal pathology, etiology and principles of periodontal disease, examination procedures, and principles of periodontal therapy, non-surgical periodontal therapy and prevention modalities.   American Academy of Periodontology classifications of periodontal disease, maintenance considerations.

The student will study concepts in general, systemic, and oral pathology. Emphasis on entities frequently encountered, clinical signs and symptoms, and concepts of differential diagnosis.

The student will study biomechanical principle, properties, and manipulation of dental materials:  armamentarium for various dental materials.  Correlates restorative, biological and materials sciences.

The student will be introduced to disciplines of removable complete and partial dentures and implants, including classification and progress of edentulism, support sources and principles, design, fabrication and evaluation.

The student will learn about various medical emergencies and how to react to these situations.  Students will be required to take a CPR Certification near their home town or will be required to travel to Eugene, OR to take a specific CPR class.

This course will introduce students to Corporate Financial Accounting and teach students how to perform accounting activities for a business. Accounting plays an integral part of every business and students will learn the bookkeeping aspects of accounting along with how to create financial reports such as the Balance Sheet, Income Statement, Trial Balance Sheet, and Statement of Cash Flows. By the end of the course, students will know how to interpret the financial statements and make sound business decisions based on the information from the reports.

ACCT 210 Accounting Information Systems – Practical Emphasis (Intro to QuickBooks) 4 Quarter Credit Hours

This course will introduce students to the QuickBooks® software to run a business utilizing Quick Books software. Some of the main areas focus on are A/R, A/P and payroll functions of a business. Students will be able to apply their accounting knowledge to run the accounting process through the QuickBooks® program. On-line tutorials will provide step-by-step instructions in plain language and will give you hands-on practice using features that you will use on an ongoing basis. Learn how to input accounting entries, generate accounting reports, maximize efficiencies, and much more.

MARK 220 Marketing Essentials 4 Quarter Credit Hours

This course introduces the student to the fundamental design and software principles of digital design workflow. They will learn about full digital integration into the laboratory and practice, as well as hybrid workflows that utilize a combination of emerging technology and existing techniques.

This course (along with the companion laboratory course- IDNT 451 Implant Supported Prosthetics Lab) will introduce the student to three common implant restorations- the fixed/removable hybrid (all-on-X), removeable bridge (telescopic copings), and implant bar technique(s).
